Major components of the interface: Direct interaction, Multi-touch contact, a Multi-user, and Object recognition.

Direct interaction: the ability to manage digital information with hand gestures and touch instead of a mouse and keyboard. Multi-touch contact: users do not have a single finger to manage digital data. When users dips five fingers in five different colors in the palette of colors on the screen and draws five lines with five fingers, you have five rows of five colors. Multi-User Experience: A typical computer to accept only a keyboard and mouse. Microsoft Surface accepts multiple inputs from multiple users. More than one person is on the surface, can work independently on the same earth to do. Object recognition: the system can identify physical objects placed on the surface. You can have the appropriate software for that item placed on the surface. Objects can be found affixed to them because of their shape or on special codes (e.g. barcodes).
